If its dried fish, its always associated with Taboan Market of Cebu. Now here’s the catch, the northerners have one and its conveniently located just beside Ilocandia’s major thoroughfare, MacArthur Highway.
Located just beside the town proper of Santo Tomas in the province of La Union, about six hours north of Manila, this place reeks of dried fish everywhere…and virtually every corner of Damortis, known throughout Ilocandia as the “dried fish capital market of the north.”

Locals and visitors pass by the highway sidewalk stalls beside MacArthur Highway do buy some of those delectable seafood that is cheaper (and fresher too!) than those in the metro. Espada or swordfish, dired squid, dried fish, dried seaweed, everything dried seafood, you name it and its in here in Damortis.

So before heading up either in Ilocos or Baguio or going back to Manila, just tell mamang konduktor if they allow you, to pass by Damortis in La Union.
